Former two-time welterweight champion Shawn Porter doesn't believe that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is still a top-tier fighter.

Speaking on his podcast The Porter Way, the 35-year-old thinks the Mexican is a B++ fighter.

Porter noted Alvarez's lack of stamina during a 12-round fight, poor game-planning against Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol in their May 2022 showdown, and against Kazakhstani fighter Gennady Golovkin during their trilogy.

Alvarez lost for the second time in his career against Bivol, while he claimed two victories over GGG after a draw in their first fight.

Many believed that Golovkin should've won the first fight, while Porter mentioned that Alvarez did not change his fighting style in their three bouts.

Although Porter thought that Alvarez looked more like himself during his latest fight against John Ryder last May, he still believed that the undisputed super middleweight champion was not as sharp as he used to be.

Porter competed professionally from 2008 to 2021, earning a record of 31 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw.

Porter makes Alvarez-Charlo prediction

Alvarez will face undisputed light middleweight champion Jermell Charlo on September 30 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The American holds a 37-1 record and will move up two weight classes to face the Mexican.

Porter has predicted who will win the fight, noting that Alvarez is a multi-dimensional fighter with the work rate to get over Charlo.

"We're looking at a right hand from Jermell Charlo, and if that right hand doesn't land between rounds one and eight it probably won't land at all, and Canelo will win this fight. I don't see him losing to Charlo," Porter said.
