A limited number of fans are in attendance due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Free agent center Nerlens Noel has agreed to a one-year deal worth $3.1 million with the Sacramento Kings, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Noel was one of the remaining bigs available in free agency more than two weeks since the market opened, and Sacramento capitalized on the chance to boost its frontcourt by signing the 6-foot-11 center.

The 29-year-old spent the 2022-23 NBA season between the Detroit Pistons and the Brooklyn Nets, appearing in 17 games.

The Philadelphia 76ers drafted Noel as the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, and he started his career in Philly until he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in February 2017.

He signed a two-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2018 and finished his deal with the team. The former Kentucky player then went eastward to sign with the New York Knicks, where he spent two seasons before being traded to Detroit last July.

Nerlens Noel was a potential top pick

Noel was the number one rated high school player of the 2012 class by ESPN and Scout.com. He decided to spend his collegiate basketball career with the University of Kentucky Wildcats under head coach John Calipari.

However, he tore the ACL of his left knee while going after a block in February 2013. He was ruled out for the season and declared for the NBA Draft.

Despite the injury, he was still the favorite to be the top pick of the 2013 draft. However, on draft night, he slid down to sixth due to concerns about his injury.
