Lowly New York Yankees will be without Domingo Germán for the rest of the season due to an issue related to his alcohol abuse.
The right-handed pitcher, who has been with the Yankees in all his professional years, voluntarily entered inpatient treatment, according to the club.
"It is critical that Domingo completely focuses on addressing his health and well-being," the club said in a statement. "We will respect his privacy as he begins this process."

General manager Brian Cashman is hopeful that the 30-year-old will come out of this a better person for the benefit of the people around him.
"I'm not going to go through the details of it," Cashman said.
"Certainly, it's a very serious issue that affects way too many people, unfortunately. Hopefully the steps that are being taken today will really benefit him for the remaining part of his life, because it's a very serious problem that you have to address head on."
Germán's trouble in the big league
The Dominican has been in the Majors for six years, but he never found stability in terms of playing time and off-court issues.
Just this May, he was suspended 10 games for using a sticky substance against the Toronto Blue Jays.
He had sporadic brilliant performances, though, like the June 28 game against the Oakland Athletics, where he threw MLB's first perfect game since 2012.
Things have gone smoothly for him since then.
He was removed from a scheduled start against the Tampa Bay Rays last Monday for a reported armpit discomfort but still played as a reliever.
