Major League Baseball announced the penalties that will be imposed on the players and officials involved during the bench-clearing brawl in the Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians game held at Progressive Field in Cleveland last Saturday.

The league handed out a six-game suspension to White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson, while Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez will receive a three-game suspension, per Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

Additional one-game suspensions will be given to Guardians pitcher Emmanuel Clase, their manager Terry Francona, and coach Mike Sarbaugh. White Sox manager Pedro Grifol will also be suspended for one game.

White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech and Guardians outfielder Gabriel Arias have also received an undisclosed amount of fine, according to the league's official press release.

Ramirez will appeal the penalty

Ramirez will contest the decision on the penalties imposed on him, according to Francona. The five-time MLB All-Star can continue to play until the appeal is decided.

"[Ramírez is] going to appeal. My hope is that he can always lower it because he's such a good player. They seemed to me to be extremely conscientious in what they were doing at least when I talked to him, which isn't surprising," the Guardians manager said.

Meanwhile, Clase will not appeal and will start to serve his discipline on Monday as they face the Toronto Blue Jays.
