Running back Jonathan Taylor will leave the Indianapolis Colts training camp to continue rehabilitating his reported ankle injury off-site.

Taylor's absence is part of his rehab process, according to Colts head coach Shane Steichen.
"If you don't see him out here, it's part of his rehab," the 38-year-old added.
The 2021 season league leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns suffered an ankle injury in a Week 4 loss against the Titans and a high ankle sprain in Week 15 last season against the Vikings. He played 11 games last season.
The Colts were aware of Taylor's decision to continue his rehab away from the team, and his absence is expected to last for several days.

Jonathan Taylor's contract drama with the Colts
The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his four-year rookie contract worth $4.3 million for the 2023 NFL season, the 18th-highest among running back salaries this year.
The drama began when the team and player disagreed on the terms of a contract extension. Taylor subsequently requested a trade out of Indianapolis, which Colts owner Jim Irsay bluntly denied.
Several sources said Taylor reported a back injury last week, but the 2021 First Team All-Pro denied the rumors. Taylor is still hoping that the team will reconsider his trade request, according to multiple sources.
