The Philadelphia 76ers have had a tumultuous week, pulling back from trade talks involving star James Harden to the shooting guard publicly lashing out to the team's President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey during an event in China for not following through with his promise.

Now, the Sixers' other star Joel Embiid's actions suggest disappointment with the franchise for all the drama brewing for the past few weeks.

The league's reigning MVP has removed all Sixers information and references on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, which used to have "Philadelphia, PA" on its location and "Processing..." on the bio.

The phrase on the bio is a reference to former Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie's statement to the fans to "Trust the Process," amid the team's losing seasons during the 2010s that would lead them to get high draft picks to use on future stars such as Embiid and Ben Simmons.

The 2023 All NBA First Team member is contractually tied with the Sixers until 2026 after signing a four-year, $196 million supermax contract extension. The 2026-27 season is a player option for Embiid, worth $59 million in salary.

Embiid is currently at the prime of his career, having led the league in scoring over the past two seasons and finishing top 2 in MVP voting for the past three seasons, finally winning in 2022-23.

He previously finished as an NBA MVP runner-up for two years in-a-row to center Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.

Embiid recently got his French and American citizenship last year, and he is in discussions with Team USA for a possible stint in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He is also eligible to play international basketball for Cameroon and France.

Joel Embiid's previous statements

Embiid also made a statement last month which worried Sixers fans, but it also showed his commitment to winning an NBA championship.

The six-time NBA All-Star said that he wants to win the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy, whatever it takes, even outside of the Sixers.

"I just want to win a championship, whatever it takes. I don't know where that's going to be, whether it's in Philly or anywhere else. I just want to have a chance to accomplish that," the 29-year-old said.

Embiid added that he wants to know what it feels like to win the elusive first one, then he can probably start to think about the next one, and so on.

The Cameroon native recognized that winning an NBA title is not easy, and it takes more than one, two, or three guys to make it happen.

He also mentioned in the same interview that he has to have good people around him, and he works hard to be at that level to lead his team to make the championship aspirations happen.

"Every single day that's working toward that goal, that's where my mindset has always been. MVP is just an added bonus," Embiid concluded.
