Myles Garrett could use some much-needed help with the Cleveland Browns, but that can only happen if the NFL team can create some salary space.
The Browns have reportedly restructured the pass-rushers contract, a move that created around $12.9 million in 2023 cap space, according to ESPN's Field Yates. The four-time Pro Bowler was originally due to make $17.25 million in base salary, which would count as $29.18 million against the salary cap, ProFootball Talk noted.

Cleveland now has close to $34M in cap space, easily the most in the NFL.
With the move, the Browns now have around $34 million in cap space, said to be the most in the NFL for any time right now.
The Myles Garrett contract restructuring was not long after the Browns had restructured the contract of guard Joe Bitonio, according to Chris Earling of the Akron Beacon Journal. That move gave Cleveland $7.9 million in cap room.
However, despite the move and suggestions that the Browns could do well to provide Garrett with much-needed help, the contract restructuring was reportedly done purely for management purposes, and there are no planned signings.
Garrett, considered the current face of the Cleveland Browns, was at the forefront of the NFL team's pass rush game. He was responsible for 16 of the Brown's 34 sacks last season and had 50 first pressures as the defender who pressured quarterbacks on the first rush.
The top pick of the 2017 NFL Draft could potentially opt out of his deal in 2024. However, he is not due to hit free agency until 2027, according to Spotrac.
