It was a huge "Volleyball Day in Nebraska" on Wednesday, August 30, an event that saw a record crowd of 92,003 fans fill the Memorial Stadium to watch the volleyball match between the Cornhuskers and team Omaha.

The five-time NCAA champions defeated Omaha 3-0, but it was the humongous crowd that took the spotlight. There was skepticism on whether the team could pack the stands at first.

All that has now been put to rest with the volleyball match eclipsing the previous record of 91,648 fans for women's sports attendance achieved back on April 22, 2022, the Associated Press reported.

The previous record was achieved in Barcelona, Spain, a Champions League match between FC Barcelona and Wolfsburg, ESPN reported.

The record-setting feat went viral on social media, with several popular names such as Caitlin Clark, Magic Johnson, and Alex Morgan awed by Nebraska's stadium-packed volleyball match.

"There are so many people dressed in all red on the Big Ten Network. I'm blown away! Shoutout to all the Husker fans that showed their support for women's athletics and the Nebraska Volleyball team," retired NBA great Johnson posted on social media.

Morgan of the United States Women's National Team likewise hailed the feat, calling it a huge win for women's sports.

"Nebraska knows how to show out," the 34-year-old soccer player posted on her Instagram story. "Huge W for college sports!!"
