The Baltimore Orioles lorded over teams in the regular season, winning 101 games out of 162 for a second-best record behind the Atlanta Braves.

This is the first time the team recorded 100+ wins in a season since 1980. It is also the fifth-best regular season record in team history and the best since 1979.

The club reached new heights this season, and for rookie Gunnar Henderson, that height is what they should aim for from here on.

"This is what we're going to expect for years to come," he said as quoted by MLB.com during a preview of their American League Division Series with Wildcard survivor Texas Rangers.

Henderson is a revelation in his rookie year, even getting tagged as one of the most promising young hitters in the league.

He debuted for the Os in 2022 after getting the club's selection in the 2019 draft. He is expected to win AL Rookie of the Year with his .255/.325/.814 splits that come along with 28 home runs.

Fellow youngster and catcher Adley Rutschman echoed Henderson's view of future baseball seasons in Baltimore.

"Now, there's no going back," Rutschman said. "It's like, 'You've got to reach this, because this is the new high.'"

Henderson savors early success with Orioles

The 22-year-old rookie is setting a high standard for his professional career, but he is still in disbelief at how quickly successes came to him.

"I feel like it's hard to when you're in the midst of it," he said when asked if he knows how special the Os' 2023 season is.

"But I'm sure the day that we retire and we can look back at the seasons, to be able to see how rare it is will be pretty cool."
