Barcelona remain at the top of the Group H table in the Champions League, but their latest match reflected the dip in their games.

Manager Xavi cannot help but feel dejected after suffering what he described as one of his worst losses as a manager.

The Camp Nou-based squad bowed to Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk, 0-1, for their first loss in the Champions League.

Over at La Liga, they also lost to El Clasico rivals Real Madrid to see themselves slide to third behind their bitter rivals and Girona.

"The level of our performances is really low at the moment," he told reporters after the defeat.

"This was one of the worst games of my two years in charge. We have to be self-critical. There was a reaction in the second half but it wasn't enough. This competition demands your best and we were not at it today. It is clear a step back."

The 43-year-old manager also commented that players' confidence is low as he seeks a sense of urgency to seal a Round of 16 spot.

Real Sociedad win a sham?

Barcelona lost to Shakhtar. Before that, they won against Real Sociedad in their domestic league.

However, João Cancelo does not think the victory over La Real is not indicative of where they are now as a team. He believes they don't deserve the three points they received for the 1-0 win.

He is hoping they can sort it out this weekend against Alaves.
