Ed Reed Blast: Jets Safety Says Lack of Film Study Leaves Media Critics Clueless [VIDEO]

Ed Reed's new home address in New York apparently has led him to engage in the "Seinfeld" ritual of "Fesitvus" with the airing of grievances.

According to multiple media reports, the New York Jets veteran safety blasted the media for what he deemed as its collective negative outlook as football reporters.

Reed, who first refused to speak to the media only to relent, started his rant after the first question dealing with the Jets defense allowing big plays and having some missed tackles in recent weeks, according to nj.com.

"That's football, man," Reed said. "We in this locker room have been playing football for a long time. Nobody's perfect out here on this football field. You guys' jobs is to critique, be critics. That's why you ask a controversial question-to try to be controversial and then trash people in the media. I could care less about that.

"Missed tackles happen. Nobody's perfect. Big plays-you can't have them. Not to win."

The 35-year-old Reed has every reason to be frustrated this season. Coming off a Super Bowl victory last season with the Baltimore Ravens, Reed signed with the Houston Texans in the offseason and had a miserable time trying to come back from arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip.

He lost his starting job and eventually his job, period. The Texans released him last month. He then signed with the New York Jets, reuniting with coach Rex Ryan, who was the Ravens' defensive coordinator during Reed's early years.

As profootballtalk.nbcsports.com reported, Reed used the "never played the game" card on the media.

"Everything I've been through, I've been through for a reason, to learn a lot," he said. "Even reading you guys' blogs, listening to your comments, knowing half of y'all don't know as much about football as you think you do, unless you come and sit in the film with us, and break the film down. You don't even know the schematic part of it.

"You can ask the questions, but that don't mean that you're an expert at what we do. It's funny to me. Reading it, I smile at it, laugh at it, but that's your job. Some of your jobs, you tear people down, [or] try to, and tear the team down, not understand that it's a team. You'd rather point the finger at one individual. It's not an individual game. It's a team sport-totally a team sport."

No word on when Reed plans to continue the Festivus holiday with his "feats of strength."
