Matt Lindstrom, Chicago White Sox (Owned in 11 percent of CBS Sports leagues) – Need a closer? You’re in luck as White Sox manager Robin Ventura shocked Nate Jones owners when he announced Monday that Matt Lindstrom will be the team's closer. The 34-year-old right-hander posted a 3.12 ERA and 46/23 K/BB ratio in 60.2 innings last summer for Chicago. Pick him up in all formats.
Erasmo Ramirez, Seattle Mariners (66 percent) – Ramirez was terrific in Spring Training, sporting a 1.14 ERA and 0.85 WHIP over 23.2 innings. He most impressive thing is the 20/2 K/BB ratio that he posted in the Cactus League. It’s worth risking that the hot start carries over to the regular season.
Tanner Scheppers, Texas Rangers (65 percent) – I’ve written about how much upside Scheppers has numerous time. He’s a SPARP with a chance to emerge into the 2014 version of C.J. Wilson.
Tyler Skaggs, L.A. Angels (53 percent) – The former top prospect has his velocity back to respectability and he’s pitching for a team that should score a ton of runs. Skaggs is worth a flier in all leagues based on his pedigree.
Jenrry Mejia, New York Mets (21 percent) – Mejia beat out Daisuke Matsuzaka for the fifth starter gig in Flushing and Mets’ fans are excited that he went with the younger option. The 24-year-old right-hander posted a 2.30 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 27 1/3 major league innings last season. Mejia has the stuff to emerge at the Mets’ best pitcher this season.
Robbie Ross, Texas Rangers (16 percent) – Ross needs to impress early to stay in the rotation once Yu Darvish returns to the rotation, but he has the talent to succeed. He posted a 2.86 ERA over 22 innings this spring and was an excellent starter in 2011 in the minor leagues, when he had a 2.34 ERA and 1.04 ERA over 161.1 innings.
