Seth Rollins talks The Shield turning babyface, Roman Reigns learning backstage, Daniel Bryan's rise to the top in WWE, more

WWE rising star Seth Rollins recently spoke about The Shield's face turn and how the group differs from when they were heels, what Roman Reigns is learning from Rollins and Dean Ambrose backstage, why Daniel Bryan deserves to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and more.

Here are highlights and analysis of Seth Rollins' interview with SLAM! Wrestling:

Seth Rollins on The Shield turning into babyface characters after being prominent heels:

"It's just how things happen. It's been an interesting transformation, I suppose. But to be honest with you, we really haven't done much different. We just started targeting different people, I suppose. By that association, the fans just started to get with us. It's been fun. It's been a side to take for sure, but I think it's something that we're all pretty excited about."

I agree with Rollins that luckily, WWE has enabled The Shield to function exactly the same as babyfaces as they did as heels. Sometimes the creative team can get too cute and force things when such character changes are booked, so I appreciate that they are simply letting Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose do what they've always done.

It also adds credibility to the integrity of The Shield as a unit since they remain unchanged in terms of their principles regardless of what side they are on.

Seth Rollins on Daniel Bryan:

"People say he ascended so quickly, but he's been in WWE for what, four years now? And before that he was on the indies for over decade. He's a guy who, if anybody's put in the time, it's him; if anybody's had a slow build to where they're at, it's him. It definitely seems like a skyrocket, just because of all the attention the Yes Movement has gathered, the way he's been positioned over the last six months particularly. But like I said, he's worked so hard, and I'm super happy for him. He deserves it. I'm real proud of him as a performer and as a friend."

Rollins is spot-on here. If anyone thinks Daniel Bryan doesn't deserve to be at the top of the WWE, they are clearly from another planet.

Seth Rollins on Roman Reigns:

"He's smart enough to listen. He's smart enough to pay attention and pick up little things. He's someone who's a student of the game. He played football before he got here. He didn't spend as much time doing this as we had, but it's in his blood. His family's a huge part of this business. He's just a guy who's built for it. It's just part of him. We spend a lot of time in the car and a lot of time in the ring together, and stuff like that, so if he's not learning, then something's not right. But I think it's pretty clear that over the past 18 months that we've been teamed up up here that his progression and his development has been accelerated, to say the least."

When The Shield first appeared in WWE, everyone was extremely excited to see Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose hit the big-time. However, Roman Reigns was a bit of a wild card at the time, and some people were wondering how he would do in the WWE spotlight.

Flash forward to now, and Reigns is arguably the most popular member of The Shield, and Rollins and Ambrose deserve a lot of credit for that. Of course, Roman Reigns himself also gets kudos for progressing so perfectly to this point, where he may in fact be fighting Triple H in a singles match at SummerSlam later this year.
