David Benoit Wrestling Debut Canceled, Chavo Guerrero Backs Out? Chris Benoit's Son Saved By Chris Jericho? [VIDEO]

David Benoit (son of Chris Benoit) was originally scheduled to make his professional wrestling debut at the Hart Legacy Family Wrestling event on July 18, 2014 in Calgary. However, that appearance is now all but canceled after Chavo Guerrero, Jr. backed out of the match after Chris Jericho stepped in to protect David Benoit since he is not yet trained at all and is should not be wrestling so quickly.

As reported by The Wrestling Observer, "David Benoit has flirted with the idea of wrestling but has never formally trained. Smith Hart, the oldest son of Stu, was trying to convince him to do the show thinking it would garner attention and help draw. After word got out, Chris Jericho, who has known David for years, and I believe he and Harry Smith were among the few in wrestling to keep in contact with him over the last seven years, contacted the promotion and was furious about them advertising David in a match, saying he hadn't been sufficiently trained to do a match. Chavo then canceled his booking. It appears that David Benoit's booking has also been canceled."

The Observer continues to report that Smith Hart actually told Chavo that David Benoit had wrestling experience but that clearly was not the case. While Benoit had been enrolled in various training camps, he never actually showed up to get trained.

The key to the cancellation of the match and the event was Chris Jericho, who has looked out for David Benoit over the years. Jericho was mad about the match being booked as soon as he heard about it, and Y2J was able to step in and save Benoit from what could have been an embarrassing experience.

CB's Analysis: Good for Chris Jericho stepping in to prevent this match from happening. If David Benoit does end up being a professional wrestler one day, hopefully he has enough sense to get properly trained before entering a ring.
