Reports indicate that the following was taped on Tuesday night for the episode of WWE SmackDown that is set to air this Friday, May 16 from Greensboro, N.C. as the WWE continues to build towards the Paybackpay-per-view on June 1 live from the Allstate Arena in Chicago.
Update On Daniel Bryan, Possibly Out Until SummerSlam
In the main event of the evening, John Cena came out and was surrounded by The Wyatt Family. The Usos then came out to even up the odds. Bray Wyatt selected Erick Rowan to take on Cena in the main event match that saw Cena win via an Attitude Adjustment. The show ended with Wyatt staring at Cena from the ramp.
Cena also kicked off SmackDown, coming out to accept Wyatt's challenge for a Last Man Standing match at Payback while also questioning Wyatt's manhood and mocking him. He then said he'd face anyone who Wyatt chose for the main event, which ended up being Rowan. Wyatt interrupted Cena's promo by appearing on the big screen.
CM Punk Appears On WWE Slam City
The Usos were in tag action on the show, facing Cody Rhodes and Goldust in a match where Rhodes acted like a heel. Jimmy Uso nailed Rhodes with a super kick and a splash for the pin and Rhodes appeared to be upset with Goldust after the match.
Batista took on Dolph Ziggler on the show Ziggler won the match via disqualification after Batista hit him with a low blow. Batista then attacked Ziggler after the match with a Batista Bomb and beat him up around the ringside area.
In other action, Sheamus defeated Titus O'Neil with a Brogue Kick, El Torito topped Heath Slater and Cesaro overcame R-Truth with the Neutralizer.
In Divas action, Nikki Bella defeated Natalya with Eva Marie as the special guest referee.
Elsewhere, Santino Marella defeated Damien Sandow with the cobra. Post-match, Marella cut a promo about his frustration and how he's being held back until his microphone was cut out.
This episode of SmackDown airs just over two weeks before Payback on June 1 in Chicago.
