We have an update on why the TNA production crew almost walked out on Impact Wrestling tapings backstage last week after they were lagging behind in payments from Dixie Carter and Company.
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the TNA production crew was behind in pay, which also happened around the same time just last year in 2013. Reports The Observer, "The belief is that Janice Carter, who controls finances, earmarks a certain amount of new money (besides the revenue the company makes itself) to finance losing periods. Because they are taping so far ahead, and taping so many PPVs, which is what got them in trouble last year, they didn't have the money and when that's the case, people start getting paid late."

This led to the majority of TNA's production crew threatening to walk out during the Impact Wrestling tapings, which covered all of the Spike TV episodes leading to TNA Slammiversary on June 15, 2014 and also included some pre-taped TNA One Night Only PPV events such as Knockouts KnockDown and Victory Road.
The Observer goes on to state that according to their sources, most of the production crew had not been paid since March, and in order to get everyone to stay, Dixie Carter wound up writing checks to the production crew for what they were owed.
Despite the threat of a walkout by the production crew, the report also indicates that the TNA wrestlers themselves are mostly up to date with no payment issues at this time.
CB's Analysis: With the roster down to just 33 contracted cuts following the recent departures of Chris Sabin, Hernandez and Kazarian, TNA has obviously been undergoing cost-cutting measures across the board. I'm glad to see that Dixie Carter was able to pay the production crew last week, and hopefully that puts this issue to bed.
