DaMarcus Beasley has but one goal in mind: Helping the U.S. men's national team advance past the second-toughest group in the 2014 World Cup.

Eventually, the international pageantry will dissipate and his focus will need to return to club form. Which club that will be, however, remains the question.
The 31-year-old was transfer listed by his current side, Puebla, after four successful years at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc. Reports had the former Chicago Fire man returning to Major League Soccer. Beasley, however, vehemently denies having any contact with anyone in MLS (h/t to Nicholas Rosano on MLS's official website). "I have not spoken to any MLS team, I don't know where that's coming from," Beasley told the gathered media.

"It is true that I'm looking to leave Puebla, I will say that, but as far as MLS, as far as any other country, any other team, I have not been in contact with anyone," he added.
"My objective is to make this [U.S. men's national] team. I'm not worried about what my future is right now with my club situation."
According to Fox Deportes' Eric Gomez, his future club situation may still reside in Liga MX, with Mexico City being the destination.

Obviously, the Pumas of UNAM are just one of three big clubs Mexico City. Club America and Cruz Azul could easily serve as the unidentified club Gomez mentioned. In all actuality, America's 5-3-2 system better suits the abilities Beasley still believes he has.
"I kind of play like a wing-back. You cover a lot of ground in that position," he explained. "It's a little bit of the same. You know Puebla's a little more defensive, so I've got to defend a little bit more, same as what I do here [with the national team], I'm a left back."
UNAM's left-back remains Efrain Velarde. The 28-year-old made 19 appearances for Pumas last season, but should they decide to return to the 3-5-2 system they abandoned last season after a slow start, Beasley could prove to be a valuable signing.
