Chivas Guadalajara Transfer News: Fernando Arce Reporting Next Week, Will Make Critics 'Eat Their Words?'

Chivas Guadalajara, facing the possibility of relegation in 2014, bolstered their squad on Sunday, announcing the signing of former Tijuana midfielder Fernando Arce. The 34-year-old made 16 appearances for Los Xolos last season, scoring one goal and creating 25 chances, per the Opta Sports data officially licensed by Squawka.

Guadalajara returned to training this week, with a portion of the first team reporting for physicals. The rest of the club is scheduled to do the same on Tuesday. Arce, however, is not expected to arrive to training until the following week (per Medio Tiempo). The former Mexican international will set his sights on more than just returning Chivas to their once-storied position on the pedestal.

For Arce, it's all about silencing his critics.

"It [the criticism] makes me laugh. The truth is, I never liked it, nor is it my style to go back and forth with people and the press," Arce said.

"I take it well. I like to do my talking on the pitch. All those people that talked [about me] are going to eat their words. All that's left for me to do is work," he added.

"A lot of people get it wrong and talk just to talk. It's up to me to remain calm and work hard. It's what we like to do, to entertain people. It's a good challenge."
