NHL Draft Rumors: New York Islanders Make No. 5 Pick Available; Isles Open to Trading Josh Bailey? [VIDEO]

The New York Islanders started an offseason remodeling when they acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak from the Washington Capitals and signed him to a four-year contract. Now general manager Garth Snow wants to trade away the No. 5 overall pick to add more established talent.

Snow spoke recently about adding more immediate talent that could help the roster and that would compliment John Tavares and Kyle Okposo.

"We're open to trading the pick for someone we think can come in and help us right away," Snow said.

The Islanders would look to add a top-pair defenseman or a top-line left wing and the No. 5 pick could be the main trading chip in their attempt to acquire one. There are no reports of teams that are interested in the Islanders pick, but if the Islanders make forward Josh Bailey available they could find more interest come draft day.

The Islanders are looking to return to the postseason after finishing 15 points shy of the last wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference. The Islanders are poised to improve on their 2013-14 season in which they registered 79 points due to the absence of Tavares, who suffered a season-ending knee injury during the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

The NHL Draft will be in Philadelphia on June 27.
