The return of Tiger Woods came in like a lion and out like a lamb as Woods finished his first round back 3-over par. Woods said his score doesn't reflect his round and believes a lot of good things came out of his first outing since back surgery.
“I hit some loose shots today. I also hit some really good ones. Back feels good, which is nice, which is a really good sign. ...
... I went for it today, just to test it and make sure, and made some pretty good ones, too. ... It was a little bit rusty. I've got to knock off some rust and really manage my way around this golf course.”
Woods had himself an up and down day on the links as he was four-over through his first nine holes, but closed out his round by scoring birdies on three of his final six holes. Woods spent a part of the afternoon in dead last before clawing his way back into the middle of the pack.
Greg Chalmers set the pace with six birdies to only one bogie, but Ricky Barnes and Fredrik Jacobson are right behind him with three days to go in the tournament.
