Jacksonville Jaguars Preview: Blake Bortles Inspires Hope for Future; 2014 A Lost Season for Jaguars [VIDEO]

2014 Jacksonville Jaguars Preview:

Offseason Additions:
RB Toby Gerhart, DE Red Bryant, DE/OLB Chris Clemons, DT Ziggy Hood, QB Blake Bortles, WR Marqise Lee, WR Allen Robinson

Offseason Losses: QB Blaine Gabbert, RB Maurice Jones-Drew, C Brad Meester, DE Jason Babin

Jacksonville Jaguars Offense:
The Jaguars overhauled the offense a bit, but 2014 is unlikely going to be the year we see it’s full potential. Justin Blackmon and Ace Sanders are out for lengthy periods of time, but Cecil Shorts should be able to hold down the fort with rookies Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee. The Jaguars are expected to use Chad Henne as quarterback most of the season as Blake Bortles prepares to take the reins, but the Jaguars have been adamant about their patience with Bortles. Toby Gerhart replaces Maurice Jones-Drew, but his limited sample size could prove to be a risky gamble for the Jags.

Jacksonville Jaguars Defense:
Coach Gus Bradley is a defensive minded coach, but he passed on Buffalo’s Khalil Mack at the No. 3 overall pick. The Jags surrendered 20 or more points in 14 of their 16 games last season and the process to get better has been slow. Bradley brought in some former Seahawks in Red Bryant and Chris Clemons, but much more help will be needed. The offense had a rapid overhaul, but the defense remains to be a glaring hole.

Outlook:
The Jaguars took a step in the right direction for the first time in a very long time this offseason, but it’s a long way from a finished product. Blake Bortles should see some time as the starter this season and 2015 will be full steam ahead. The Jaguars have to stay healthy and competitive as they continue one of the more lengthy rebuilds in the NFL.

Fantasy Outlook:
Toby Gerhart: No. 36 Overall, No. 18 RB
Cecil Shorts: No. 126 Overall, No. 49 WR
Marqise Lee: No. 176 Overall, No. 64 WR

Prediction: 5-11 (4th in AFC South)
