There has been speculation that WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin may return to the WWE and possibly have one more match and it appears as though "The Texas Rattlesnake" is open to a comeback.
There have been a lot of rumors over the last few weeks that Austin could be coming in to do some work with the WWE stemming from the company plugging his Steve Austin Show podcast on Monday Night RAW a few weeks ago.
Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that the WWE also recently ordered production to begin on several Austin shirts which could be another sign that the company is going to bring him back and start pushing his merchandise.
According to the report, the WWE has apparently told distributors to go heavy on the production of Austin shirts which could either be a sign that Austin will return to television soon or that there will be an extreme push in his merchandise soon.
There have been reports that Austin is open to a return to the ring as long as the money and creative direction are to his liking, but the Hall of Famer has stated in the past that it wouldn't make sense for him to put in all the necessary work and training in order to come back for a one-match stint, but he is still in good shape these days.
Austin has been very inconsistent with his responses when asked about whether or not coming back as he recently said he has "no hunger" to return to the ring then hinted a comeback for WrestleMania 32 in 2016.
Austin spoke with Sam Roberts during SummerSlam weekend last month and was asked if he has the hunger to return to action. Austin, while discussing Sting joining the WWE family, indicated that he doesn't want to return.
"No, I had a great breakfast this morning, no hunger at all," Austin told Roberts. "Especially as it pertains to the squared circle."
In a different interview, Austin seemed more open to a return.
"I'll reserve my right to if I want to have another match down the road - say, like, Dallas, Texas is going to be [WrestleMania 32]," he told PWTorch "Now, 31 is right down the road from me. That could be doable, but I don't see it happening. Now, Dallas, that could be very special going back to Texas for 32. They're going to need a loaded card to fill that house. So, I'll reserve my right. But, am I pushing, pandering, selling, promoting? Nothing."
Austin has made some sporadic appearances with the WWE over the last 11 years, but he hasn't wrestled a match since losing to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the finale of their WrestleMania trilogy at WrestleMania XIX in 2003.
It remains possible that Austin 3:16 will whoop some a-- again in a WWE ring soon.
