Perhaps CM Punk misses wrestling after all as the "Best in the World" was reportedly spotted at a wrestling event on Saturday night.
Rumor Mill: The Rock vs. Rusev At WrestleMania 31?
Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, walked out on the WWE in January and recently said at the AP Music Awards that he was "never ever" returning to the squared circle.
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Punk was backstage at Ohio Valley Wrestling's Saturday Night Special in Louisville, Ky. this past weekend in what is believed to be the first time that the former WWE Superstar has appeared at a wrestling event since departing the WWE.
Update On 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin Possibly Returning To WWE
There is a belief that Punk may have been there to support OVW wrestlers and his friend Cliff Compton, who picked up an OVW Heavyweight Championship victory at the event on Saturday night.
According to the report, Punk was backstage and spoke with a trainer named Rip Rogers, a wrestler that goes by the ring name Trailer Park Trash and Compton. Per the report, other Superstars at the event were told not to bother Punk and the former WWE Champion left the arena alongside Compton without being seen by fans.
Punk walked out on the WWE in January due to the rigorous travel schedule and his frustration over the way his character was being used amid rumors that he wanted to main event WrestleMania XXX in April while the WWE had him penciled in to battle Triple H.
Punk has made sporadic public appearances all over the place since his departure, but it doesn't seem as though a wrestling return is in the works.
Punk's WWE contract officially expired in July and things were said to be worse than ever between the two sides.
Adding an extra wrinkle to the drama, Punk married WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee in real life in June, and she took time off to move in with him from early-April to late-June, but the WWE doesn't seem to be punishing her based on her husband's transgressions.
While Punk may never admit that he has the itch to return to the ring, this is the first sign that wrestling is still of interest to him as he appeared at the OVW event over the weekend.
