Messi vs. Ronaldo: Koke Wrong To Call Cristiano Ronaldo an Athlete, Messi a God

The tired debate that is Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi added another opinion on Wednesday, with Atletico Madrid's Koke becoming the latest contributor. Appearing on Al Primer Toque, the Liga winner was asked to chime in on the great debate. Though he was complimentary of both players, the 22-year-old made his personal preference abundantly clear.

"Ronaldo is an athlete, but Messi is a god," Koke said on Spanish television (via Goal). "They're both great players. I see them on the pitch and it's spectacular. It's tough to decide. You always want them on your team, and even though it's Cristiano, I'd choose Messi."

On current form, however, it's Ronaldo who's performing at a biblical pace.

In eight appearances this season, the reigning FIFA Ballon d'Or winner has a staggering 15 goals and two assists, more than any other player on the planet. When put in its proper context, Ronaldo's scorching form is illuminated further.

As pointed out by Real Madrid TV's Phil Kitromilides, his 15 goals are more than 16 English Premier League teams, 16 Bundesliga teams, 16 Ligue 1 teams, 18 Serie A teams and 16 La Liga teams.

A combined 82 teams in Europe's top five leagues are currently behind the pace of one man, and that man is not Lionel Messi.
