Tonight at 7 p.m. ET, the Pittsburgh Penguins (1-0-0, two points) and Toronto Maple Leafs (0-1-0, zero points) take the ice at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The game can be live streamed here. Pittsburgh fans can hear all of the action on WXDX 105.9 while Toronto fans can do the same on TSN 1050.
Pittsburgh is coming off of a 6-4 Opening Night victory over the Anaheim Ducks while Toronto dropped its season-opener 4-3 to the rival Montreal Canadiens. The Penguins took two of three from the Maple Leafs in 2013-14.
Evgeni Malkin was limited to just over 16 minutes of ice time after missing most of the preseason with an undisclosed injury and he said afterward that he felt off his game.
"I didn't feel good," Malkin said, according to the Penguins website. "It was hard. I'm not in shape. I wanted to play the first game because I'm not injured and we played at home. I will just keep going every game. We had a nice practice. We win. That's good, but I should play better."
Pittsburgh had five different goal scoreres in their season-opener, including two tallies from Sidney Crosby, who also added an assist and a goal and three helpers from Pascal Dupuis.
Following its loss in the opener, Toronto claimed Richard Panik off of waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning, and he could fill a fourth line role.
"I'm a big guy [6-foot-2], I can make plays, drive to the net, be hard to play against," Panik told NHL.com.
Nazem Kadri, Morgan Rielly and Tyler Bozak each found the back of the net in the season-opener, but it wasn't enough to notch a win for the Maple Leafs.
Jonathan Bernier is slated to suit up in net for Toronto tonight while the Penguins will be countering with Marc-Andre Fleury.
The Penguins look to improve to 2-0 while the Maple Leafs hope to notch their first win of the campaign when the puck drops on these teams live tonight from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
