New York Giants Rumors: Victor Cruz Out for Season with Torn Patellar Tendon [VIDEO]

The New York Giants got crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles 27-0 Sunday night, but the biggest loss of the night is the presence of wide receiver Victor Cruz.

Cruz has reportedly torn his patellar tendon in his right knee after attempting to catch a ball in the back of the end zone in the third quarter.

“Cruz got open in the back-right corner of the end zone, and Eli Manning lofted a pass Cruz got his hands on. But as he leaped for the ball, Cruz's right leg appeared to twist. As the ball tipped off his hands, he immediately reached for his right knee while still in midair.”

Cruz was carted off the field in obvious pain and was seen sobbing after realizing the severity of the injury. Cruz was an undrafted free agent for the Giants who burst onto the scene in 2011. Cruz has put together three-straight great seasons for the Giants, including a 2011 where he caught 82 balls for 1,536 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Giants lack a playmaker of Cruz’s caliber and Jerrel Jernigan, Cruz’s backup, is already on injured reserve from a previous injury. The Giants have rookie Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle on the roster at wide receiver.

The Giants have a showdown with the 5-1 Dallas Cowboys next weekend in Texas.
