Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, the Colorado Avalanche (1-2-0, two points) and Toronto Maple Leafs (1-2-0, two points) take the ice for the first of two meetings this season live from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The game can be live streamed here. Colorado fans can hear all of the action on KRWZ 950 while Toronto fans can do the same on TSN 1050.
Both teams notched their first wins of the season last time out to end two-game skids to kick off the 2014-15 campaign. Colorado notched a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins Monday while Toronto had an offensive eruption against the New York Rangers, knocking them off 6-3 Sunday.
James Reimer will be between the pipes again for the Maple Leafs after earning a victory in his season debut against the Rangers by allowing just two goals on 26 shots.
"It'll be good to get back in there; I'm excited to get another start and hopefully get another win," Reimer said, according to NHL.com. "I have a chance to go in there and try to win a game. We're starting our playoff push, so two points are up for grabs and hopefully I can do the job to get them."
Tyler Bozak has paced the Maple Leafs thus far this season with four points off of three goals and one assist while Phil Kessel has found the back of the net once and added two helpers for three points.
The Avalanche scored its first two goals of the season in Monday's win over the Bruins and was lifted to victory by Daniel Briere's tally with just one minute left in regulation, which was his 300th-career NHL goal. Jamie McGinn scored Colorado's lone other goal of the season during the contest.
"Hopefully there are many more to come but it's certainly a good feeling to find a loose puck like that late in the game and get a big win, especially after the start that we had," Briere told NHL.com after the game. "It's been a little bit of a roller coaster to start the season but we are hoping this game will get us on our way."
Semyon Varlamov is expected to man the crease for Colorado tonight in search of his first win. Varlamov is 0-2-0 and has yielded seven goals on 71 shots thus far.
Both teams look for their second straight win when the puck drops on the Avalanche and Maple Leafs live tonight from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
