It had appeared as though Kurt Angle was slated to return to the WWE for the first time in eight years now that his deal with TNA is up, but it now seems more likely that the Olympic gold medalist will be staying with TNA after all.

There have been rumors for months that Angle would be signing on with the WWE, possibly for a farewell tour, but it seems as though no deal has been made despite Angle meeting with the very company where he got his start in professional wrestling.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, wrestling insider Dave Meltzer has stated that he believes Angle will be staying with TNA despite his contract expiring on Sept. 21.

Per the site, Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that TNA wants people to believe that Angle is bolting from the company so that it's a big surprise when he decides to stay.

There is no word on what sort of big angle is planned for the reveal that he is back with TNA so it remains to be seen how the company will handle that.

It was reported last week that Angle turned down a full-time offer from the WWE due to the fact that his body can't handle the full-time WWE schedule and all of the travel that comes with it. Angle is coming off of knee surgery and has had a history with physical and personal problems in the past.

The WWE had reportedly been skeptical about bringing Angle on due to his past demons and issues, but things may have changed since the organization offered him a full-time pact, which was reportedly the idea of Triple H.

Angle kicked off his professional wrestling career by joining the WWE in 1999, three years after winning an Olympic gold medal in 1996 for amateur wrestling. Angle left the WWE in 2006 and has been with TNA ever since.

While it appeared as though Angle may return to the WWE, it doesn't seem like that reunion will be happening anytime soon.
