Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard Incident: KD Insults D12's Manhood, Inflames Thunder vs. Rockets Rivalry

There was no love lost between the Rockets and Thunder last night.

The two teams slogged through an ugly, physical 69-65 matchup that looked like it belonged in a different era of the league. Tensions were high throughout the game, culminating in one moment in which Thunder head coach Scott Brooks actually left the bench to get in the face of Rockets guard (and professional pest) Patrick Beverley.

Animosity between these rivals is nothing new. The two teams have had hard fought regular season and playoff battles. During the 2013 playoffs, Beverley made contact with Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook when the latter had slowed down to call timeout, causing a season-ending injury. The next season Beverley did the same thing, igniting a minor melee.

OKC superstar Kevin Durant was in plainclothes for the game, as he continues to nurse his nagging foot injury. However, that didn't stop him from getting in on the trash talk, either.

According to Thunder beat writer Anthony Slater, the reigning MVP had a very choice description when describing his opinion of Howard.

This isn't the first time Howard has drawn the insults of a high profile NBA star. He and Kobe Bryant exchanged words during the season's opening night, with Kobe calling him "soft," and a few other words that can't be reprinted here.
