Dwight Howard Injury Update: No Timetable For D12 Return To Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets look like a title contender at this point in the season even without a fully healthy Dwight Howard. It now looks like they may have to continue scraping by without their All NBA big man because his knee injury may be more serious than the team originally thought.

Kobe, Rondo Not Talking Business

According to media reports, Houston Rockets head coach Kevin McHale recently indicated that he does not know how much longer Howard will be out. It was thought that the star center was nearing a return to the court, but McHale's recent comments seem to imply otherwise.

McHale was discussing injured point guard Patrick Beverly, who has been out with a strained left hamstring, and near the end of the discussion, he added, "It would be nice to get everybody else back, but that won't be happening anytime soon."

The comment seems directed toward Howard, who the team thought might return this week. Howard has not played since November 19. The Rockets are currently 16-4 and sit at second in the Western Conference, behind only the Golden State Warriors, who are 17-2. The two teams are scheduled to meet in Oakland on Wednesday.

The Rockets are 7-2 in their games without Howard this season, which would seem to give them some freedom to make sure that he is fully healthy before he comes rather than trying to rush him back early.
