Manchester United Transfer News: Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez Must 'Keep Fighting' for Place at Real Madrid

For most, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez's decision to join Real Madrid on loan was an unmitigated disaster. The 26-year-old has only managed to appear for a total of 217 league minutes, with 12 of his 13 appearances coming as a substitute.

All signs point to his departure from the Santiago Bernabeu at season's end. That, however, isn't enough to deter Jose Antonio Noriega. According to the former Mexican international, Hernandez's decision to join Madrid was the correct one.

"I do not think Chicharito was wrong to accept the loan to Madrid," Noriega told Marca (via Daily Mail). "They are the best team in the world in terms of history, they are the richest club in the world and they are European champions. Anyone would want to play for Real Madrid. The important thing in life is to have fun and garner good memories and experiences."

"Whether he will ever get the opportunity to shine rests in Madrid's corner," he added. "If they are struggling to score, they might turn to him for options. If they are doing well, the relaxation in the squad might help him get a chance."

Unfortunately for Hernandez, Real Madrid haven't been doing well, dropping three of their last four matches. Regardless, Noriega believes Chicharito must continue to fight for his place at the Bernabeu.

"If I were him, I would keep fighting my corner," he said. "He must make the coach reconsider his stance with joy and optimism in his game. He is a great professional. He should wait until the end of the season to consider his future, irrespective."

Though Hernandez has been unable to perform in La Liga, he will have his opportunity to do so when Mexico faces Ecuador on Mar. 28.
