Florida State Football News: Seminoles Emerge As 'Frontrunner' For Everett Golson's Services? [VIDEO]

Everybody knew Everett Golson wasn’t going to stay on the open transfer market for very long.

Where To Next For Notre Dame QB?

There are just too many major college football programs with quarterback vacancies for the former Notre Dame signal caller to have remained without a home for very long. Even with the Fighting Irish restricting the list of schools to which Golson could bolt, a handful of worthy suitors remained nonetheless.

Now 24/7 Sports is reporting that the Florida State Seminoles have emerged as the “frontrunner” for Golson’s services. “Barring a last-minute change of heart or any influence from elsewhere, [Florida State’s] where he’s headed,” a source told the site.

Landing Golson would be a massive coup for head coach Jimbo Fisher. His team was deemed on the outside looking in of the 2015 College Football Playoff following the departure of Jameis Winston for the NFL draft. Picking up Golson to replace him makes them immediate top ten contenders once again.

Notre Dame Restricting Golson’s Transfer Options

Golson is from South Carolina and has expressed an interest in returning close to home to finish his NCAA career. Playing out his days in Seminole country might just be close enough.

Another amusing wrinkle to this story: news of Golson’s impending arrival with surely be of some comfort to famous porn star—and FSU superfan—Mia Khalifa. She famously tried to recruit Ohio State’s Braxton Miller to Tallahassee earlier this year; Golson, we’re sure, will be a fine consolation prize instead.
