Real Madrid were eliminated from the Champions League on Wednesday. A 3-2 loss to Juventus on aggregate sealed Los Galacticos' fate in Europe. Now, the club looks to the future.
One player likely to not have a future with the club is Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez.
According to SI's Grant Wahl, the Mexican international, who's on loan from Manchester United, will not stay at Real Madrid and would prefer to move to a big European club. Should only mid-table sides be the ones in pursuit, however, then Hernandez has not ruled out a move to Major League Soccer this summer.
Per the report, Orlando City remain interested.
"I think if we could get Chicharito, our ownership would do it," head coach Adrian Heath told Wahl.
Struggling for goals, Orlando enters the weekend with a minus-five goal differential, only finding the back of the net nine times this season. The club's average of 0.9 goals per match is among the worst in the league.
Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to D.C. Untied only exacerbated current issues.
"Today is very difficult because we won the first half," said Lions captain Kaka (via MLS). The second half we just didn't play and do the little things that makes a difference. We have to be concentrated the whole game, the whole game. There are some moments during the game that we can't lose concentration."
Twenty-four matches still remain in the season, so there's ample time to improve as an expansion franchise. But unquestionably, adding a potent striker would solidify Orlando's playoff hopes in a weakened Eastern Conference.
