Barcelona Transfer News: Angel Di Maria Says No to Lionel Messi, Wants to Play for Manchester United

Despite facing a transfer ban in the summer window, Barcelona remains linked to a few of the game's biggest stars—the latest being Angel Di Maria. According to the Mirror, however, the interest is all for naught.

Per the report, Di Maria has vowed to snub interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona. The 27-year-old is determined to play for Manchester United.

"No, I'm not thinking like that," Di Maria said (via Mirror). "In Madrid, there were times when I was whistled around the stadium, but faced it and then it turned around. I like to deal with things. I started well, with goals and assists. I was having a good time until I was out. It's a little hard to explain why I do not play."

Part of the reason was manager Louis van Gaal's inability to find his best position, something Di Maria readily admitted.

"I started in one position. I returned to the middle, then on the left," he added. "But then with Argentina, I was in one place and then another. I just want to play. Yes. For me, and my family because not everything goes as I want, because I don't play."

"Because I came with an intention and end up on the bench. It's hard to tell how I feel there [in Manchester]."

Di Maria made just 20 starts for United last season. He did, however, accumulate 10 assists and an average of 1.9 key passes. But the returns weren't enough for a player who cost a record £59.7 million.

Should he not stay true to his word, he will cost Barcelona far more.

According to Mundo Deportivo (via Express), Di Maria has a clause in his contract to prevent him from joining Barcelona. Any transfer would require the Catalan giants to pay Real Madrid a fee in addition to the one owed to United.
