Alex Rodriguez Will Be Disciplined By New York Yankees For Seeking Second Medical Opinion Of Ailing Quad

The New York Yankees have informed Alex Rodriguez the team plans to take disciplinary action against him in the wake of his recent decision to seek a second medical opinion for his strained calf without first conferring with or gaining approval from team officials, ESPN reports.

Rodriguez, who continues to take the field while awaiting an appeal decision of the 211 game suspension imposed on him by Major League Baseball after he was implicated in the ongoing Biogenesis Clinic performance enhancing drug scandal, was informed of the team’s decision in a letter hand delivered to him prior to his home season opener Friday night.

At the height of a public fight late last month during which GM Brian Cashman barked “Alex should just shut the f**k up,” Rodriguez sought the advice of New Jersey based orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Gross, then embarked on a media blitz questioning the motivation behind team officials decision not to allow him to play.

According to ESPN, a day before conferring with Gross Rodriguez called team president Randy Levine and told him he no longer trusted the organization’s medical team. Sources say the former American League MVP added he felt his hip injury during last year’s playoffs was also misdiagnosed.

On the same day team officials also sent suspended catcher Francisco Cervilli a letter telling him he will also be disciplined by the team in the wake of his 50-game Biogenesis related suspension, executives did not pinpoint to Rodriguez in their writing what the exact nature of what his discipline would be, ESPN noted.
