WWE Double Title-Holders: 5 Superstar Greats That Wore Multiple Straps Long Before Cena, Rollins [VIDEOS]

In just over a week, Seth Rollins and John Cena will engage in a winner-takes-all title-for-title clash at SummerSlam.

The Architect will put his WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line against the Cenation leader's United States Championship, and whoever is left standing at the end of the match will be in possession of both titles.

Cena and Rollins are co-headlining SummerSlam on Aug. 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in what should be an epic clash. For the first time in WWE history, a Superstar will hold both the U.S. and World Heavyweight belts.

5) Shawn Michaels

While he briefly held the WWE Tag Team and Intercontinental Championships at the same time with Diesel, who was also holding the WWE Championship, Michaels is more notable for another reign.

HBK was the European Champion when he battled Bret Hart at Survivor Series 1997 in the infamous Montreal Screwjob encounter. After Michaels defeated Hart to capture the WWE Championship, he became the first man to ever carry those two titles at the same time.

Michaels would go on to hold the Tag Team Championships with John Cena leading up to WrestleMania 23, making Cena a double title-holder as he was the WWE Champion.

4) Kurt Angle

The Olympic gold medalist is one of only three men to ever hold the Intercontinental and since-retired European Championships at the same time when he captured them both in February 2000. Angle called himself the "Euro-Continental" champion, but he lost both belts without being a factor in the decision in a two-fall Triple Threat Match with Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit at WrestleMania 2000.

3) Rob Van Dam

The Whole F'N Show ran the show in 2006, becoming the only man to ever hold the WWE and ECW Championships simultaneously. RVD defeated John Cena to win the WWE Championship at ECW One Night Stand that year and then was awarded the ECW brand's world title from Paul Heyman.

 2) "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

The Texas Rattlesnake held one-half of the Tag Team Championships and the WWE Championship simultaneously in 2001. Austin defeated The Rock to win the richest prize in the game at WrestleMania X-7 that April and then followed it up by teaming with Triple H to defeat Kane and Undertaker later that month at Backlash to capture the tag gold.

Triple H was the reigning Intercontinental Champion and also became a double title-holder.

1) The Ultimate Warrior

The first person to ever hold two WWE titles simultaneously was late Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior. The Warrior was booked in a match dubbed as "The Ultimate Challenge" as he put his WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line against Hulk Hogan's WWE Championship in a title-for-title match.

After an over 20-minute bout at the SkyDome in Toronto, The Warrior handed Hogan his first ever WrestleMania loss to capture both belts in one of the most highly-regarded main events of all time.
