Now that he's passed math, the quest to replace Marcus Mariota as Oregon's quarterback has begun for Vernon Adams.
Adams started his journey to transfer from Eastern Washington to Oregon in February, but he had to complete his final academic requirement before it could go through. The signal caller noted that the final hurdle standing in his way was a math class, but he revealed he passed it on his Instagram account, proudly donning a graduation cap and gown.

If the quarterback didn’t complete the graduate class, he wouldn't have been eligible to become a graduate student, and he wouldn't have been able to play for Oregon in the 2015 season. Adams was expected to join the club for workouts in June, but the math class proved to be a major hiccup in his goal of filling the void left by Mariota.
Mariota, 21, won the Heisman Trophy in 2014 and led Oregon to a 13-2 record last season and a Rose Bowl victory. The Titans drafted Mariota with the second overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft on April 30, and now the Ducks are left with a quarterback competition to fill the vacancy.

Adams' main competition is Jeff Lockie, who served as Mariota's long-time backup and has had a great spring thus far for Oregon. Ducks coach Mark Helfrich hasn't addressed the quarterback situation, but in the wake of Adams officially being on board things could change. Oregon begins full camp on Monday.
Adams, 22, has made his presence known in the Pac-12 in the past. The Pasadena, Calif., native carried Eastern Washington to a season-opening win over Oregon State in 2013, during which he threw for four scores and 411 yards, and rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
The next year, Adams once again had a game to remember, throwing for a remarkable seven touchdowns and 475 yards in a loss to Washington.
With the math issues behind him, Adams is now turning his attention to earning the reins under center for Oregon.
