Amir “King” Khan has wanted to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. for about two years, but his constant chatter may have blown his chance, according to Mayweather’s uncle Jeff. Khan has since moved on to Manny Pacquiao, but he may have messed that up too.
"I want to fight Manny Pacquiao next because if I beat him, maybe that will make Floyd Mayweather come out of retirement to fight me. The public demand would be huge,” Khan said, without realizing that Pacquiao, the second-biggest boxing star in the world, may not like being used as a chip to get another fight.

It's difficult to follow Khan's logic, because he just essentially defined the word bait. Pacquiao is a global superstar, but he is still No. 2 at the box office to Mayweather, and all this time Khan has said he wants Mayweather, not Pacquiao.

Khan does seem open to other name opponents, but kept on dissing his countryman Kell Brook, the unbeaten IBF welterweight champion.
"Kell Brook is another good name. In 2016 I'll think he'll get that fight. I don't know much about Diego Chaves [Brook's next opponent] but I know that he's lost three of his last five fights. He's really got to up his game and fight the top guys like I do.”
Khan’s last fight was against Chris Algieri, however, a fighter without the resume of Brook, and who was coming off a loss to Pacquiao in which he hit the canvas six times. Prior to that, he fought Devon Alexander, a fringe contender at 147 pounds.
He also has three losses (two knockouts) on his resume. Khan has losses to Breidis Prescott, Danny Garcia, and Lamont Peterson that have not been avenged, and only seems interested in Garcia among those three.
Mayweather has said he is retired, and while few believe it, there’s little reason to think he would come out of retirement to take on Khan.
