Manny Pacquiao Officially Files Candidacy for Senator

Manny Pacquiao is currently out of the boxing ring after his shoulder surgery, though he does have plans of returning perhaps briefly in early 2016.

The 2016 fight is seen as perhaps his farewell fight, against an opponent that is still unknown.

Amir Khan Decides To Wait Another Week

The leading candidate thus far is Amir Khan, though there are other names in the mix which could be added such as Timothy Bradley Jr., Terence Crawford and even the allegedly retired Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Regardless of who he ends up facing, Pacquiao stands to make a shift from the ring into politics as he runs for a senatorial seat in next year’s May elections in the Philippines.

Amir Khan Bout Could Be A Done Deal

Pacquiao made his intentions official today after officially filing his Certificate of Candidacy at the Commission on Elections main office in Manila.

Pacquiao was accompanied by his wife Jinkee Pacquiao and constant companion in former Ilocos Governor Chavit Singson.

His intent to run has drawn mixed reactions from his countrymen, citing his poor attendance while being a congressman. And apparently such has led him to reportedly quit boxing thus making his 2016 fight his last.

Despite his claim, not many are still convinced that he will devote his time in the senate as well as his intent to walk away from boxing. He is a strong favorite to make it into the magic 12 of senators poised to win next year though the varying opinions of people regarding his political ambitions remain divided.

It is widely believed that Pacquiao will go as far as eye the Philippine presidency in 2022.

But before all that, the big question right now is on whether he is really bent on retiring from the ring.
