The 2015 MLB season has dwindled down to two teams as the NL champion Mets and AL champion Royals clash in World Series Game 1 on Tuesday.
Mets Add Secret Weapon Ahead Of World Series Game 1
New York is in the Fall Classic for the first time since 2000 and will look to win its first World Series championship since 1986. The Mets defeated the Dodgers in five and then swept the Cubs in the NLCS to get here. Kansas City is in its second straight World Series and will look to win its first title since 1985. The Royals ousted the Astros in five games before toppling the Blue Jays in six games in the ALCS.
Matt Harvey (13-8, 2.71 ERA) mans the mound for the Mets, while the Royals counter with Edinson Volquez (13-9, 3.55).

--With his innings-limit controversy tossed aside, Harvey has gone 2-0 with a 2.86 ERA this postseason while giving up four runs and fanning 16 batters in 12 2/3 innings pitched. Volquez is 1-4 with a 6.56 ERA through five career postseason starts and will make his first World Series start. Volquez threw six shutout innings in Game 1 of the NLCS, but allowed five runs in Game 5.
--The Fall Classic will be a matchup of power pitching (Mets) against contact hitting (Royals). New York finished fourth in the MLB with a 3.43 team ERA, while Kansas City placed third with a .269 team batting average.
--NLCS MVP Daniel Murphy has homered in six straight postseason games and has seven overall in these playoffs. New York's second baseman is 6-for-15 with a double and two RBIs against Volquez. ALCS MVP Alcides Escobar has shown aggressiveness by swinging at the first pitch a lot throughout the playoffs and it has worked to the tune of a .478 batting average last round. The Royals shortstop has never faced Harvey.
