Tim Tebow News: Former NFL Quarterback Turns Down Offer To Play In Russia [VIDEO]

Any potential fans of Tim Tebow in Russia that were hoping to see the quarterback play for the Moscow Black Storm will be disappointed to find out that the former NFL quarterback turned down the team's offer of $1 million to play in two games for them.

Black Storm owner Mikhail Zaltsman told the Russian news affiliate R-Sport that Tebow, 26, turned down the team's offer for him to play for the Black Storm in those two games.

"Unfortunately agents of Tim Tebow turn down our proposal," Zaltsman in an email to the Russian sports news service, according to UPI.com. "I hope that its Tebow's agents' fault that the contract wasn't signed and Tim couldn't do anything about it."

Zaltsman expressed optimism last week when he said that the two had a meeting and Tebow seemed interested in joining the Russian team, but he noted that Tebow's agents didn't want him to play in Russia and were hoping he'd be a public speaker instead. Zaltsman said that Tebow seemed very interested at the prospect of joining the team, but with the news breaking that Tebow isn't accepting the job, Zaltsman seemed a little hurt by the news.

"If it was his decision -- it's very upsetting. And in this case we don't want him in our team anyway," Zaltsman added per UPI.com. "We are looking for the people who pursue their dreams, not the ones who talk about it."

Tebow tweeted following his release from the New England Patriots during the preseason that he would continue to pursue his dream of being a quarterback in the NFL.

Tebow made a name for himself when he took over for the Denver Broncos in 2011 and led the team to the AFC West division title and to a playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime, however after the team was eliminated and he was traded to the New York Jets his star began to fall and he was used sparingly until the Jets released him.

Tebow was then offered a spot with the Patriots, who don't usually carry three quarterbacks on the team. After a couple of preseason appearances with them, the team cut Tebow due to the fact that he was expendable seeing how incumbent Tom Brady wasn't going anywhere and Ryan Mallet secured the back-up job.

There were also rumors of Tebow playing for the Montreal Alouettes, a Canadian Football League team that owns the rights to him, however the sides haven't spoken so that option remains doubtful.

Tebow is still hoping to pursue an NFL career, but so far doesn't have any suitors. There was a rally in Jacksonville where Jaguars fans showed up to try and will the team into signing Tebow, but The Washington Post reported that only about 20-40 people showed up to the event.

In his NFL career, Tebow has appeared in 35 games and had a completion percentage of 47.9% after going 173-for-361 for 2,422 yards with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions over three years split between the Broncos and Jets. Tebow has rushed for 989 yards on 197 carries, and has scored 12 touchdowns.

Tebow insists that he won't be satisfied until he's back in the NFL, and not even a lucrative offer from Russia could lure him away from his dreams.
