Pittsburgh Steelers Rumors: Paxton Lynch Should Learn Behind Ben Roethlisberger, Not Tony Romo [VIDEO]

Paxton Lynch isn't in a rush to start in the NFL. He's just looking at the wrong place to get an education.

The Memphis QB joined the "Afternoon Show" with Tim Cowlishaw and Matt Mosley on Wednesday. Naturally, he was asked about the potential of being drafted by the Cowboys No. 4 overall.

While most top prospects would shy away from the opportunity to sit and learn behind a veteran, Lynch welcomed it.

"I'd be more than okay with doing whatever was best for me and the team and whatever team I got picked up by," he said, per Dallas News. "When I first got to school, I didn't want to redshirt or anything. I thought I could go in there and play, but I realized later on down the road as I grew up and matured, I realized that redshirting is a good thing. You get a chance to sit back and learn what you need to learn and take care of your business off the field.

"I know if I got to sit behind somebody like a veteran quarterback, whoever it may be, I know that that would be a great learning experience to develop me mentally and physically in the game, give me a year just to sit back and see how you handle things professionally."

Except he won't get the opportunity to sit and learn in Dallas -- not with Tony Romo's fragile body. He's better off grabbing a seat behind Ben Roethlisberger.

You know, someone who doesn't suffer season-ending injuries.

Admittedly, both did miss time in 2015. Roethlisberger missed four games due to a sprained MCL and bone bruise; however, since he joined the league in 2004, the Steelers QB has made at least 11 starts each year. That's 12 consecutive seasons with double-digit starts and then some.

Romo -- who took over in 2006 -- has only gone four consecutive seasons with double-digit starts before inevitably breaking down. He even missed significant playing time with a broken clavicle this season.

The missed starts were an anomaly for Roethlisberger, it was the norm for Romo.

if it's an education Lynch really wants, he's better off dropping in the first round.
