Former NBA star and Brooklyn legend Stephon Marbury has reportedly signed a three-year deal with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association that will keep him playing professionally until he is at least 40.

Days after several media outlets reported Marbury had pay off the last $341,153 of $1million he owed in "hush money" to former mistress Thurayyah Mitchell, the New York Daily News is reporting Marbury has grown so fond of his time abroad he is now contemplating coaching In China after his playing days are over.

The News adds Marbury has become so beloved in the capital city after leading Beijing to the team's first championship two years ago, the team has erected a statue of him outside its stadium.

Just last week, Sebastian Telfair, Marbury's younger cousin, announced he too has signed on to play in the CBA this season.

Marbury played 13 NBA seasons, including five for his hometown Knicks. The two bitterly parted ways in a 2008 buyout prompted by his rocky relationships with teammates and both coaches Larry Brown and Isiah Thomas.

But The News reports since he arrived in China he has been a "model citizen," a warm and fuzzy celebrity who rides the subway to practice and easily interacts with fans and children.

Marbury averaged 19.3 points and 7.6 assists a game for five different NBA teams.
