Holly Holm Update: After UFC 196, Champion Wants Another Fight Before Ronda Rousey Rematch [VIDEO]

Given the previous UFC women's bantamweight champion wanting to take a break after her last title defense, Holly Holm's comments initially may have raised some eyebrows.

Holm the current UFC women's bantamweight champion said she wants to take a break following her title defense Saturday in Las Vegas against Miesha Tate, according to MMA Junkie.

Holly Holm Vows Not To Let Ronda Rousey Define Her Career

Holm said she wants six weeks off without having to think about her next fight. Unlike Ronda Rousey, who had scheduled time off after UFC 193 to shoot a couple of movies, Holm said she had a "girl's trip" planned in April but then would look to fit in another fight before her rematch with Rousey in November -- provided that she defeats Tate this weekend.

"I don't like to wait that long," Holm recently told MMAjunkie. "Right now I have a fight, and I have a really busy March and April, and I'm going on a girls trip in April, which is very much needed. Honestly, I would actually really love to not schedule a fight or even think about it until after all that. I went straight from the victory tour to the on-sale tour for this fight, which is how I like it. I want to be active. But I could use maybe like six weeks.

Holly Holm Responds To Ronda Rousey's 'Still Undefeated' Comment

"(I won't take time) off of working out," she said. "I still like to work out, but (I want) six weeks with not having to actually think about a fight. Then we can schedule one. I don't really need that much time off because then I start to think, 'Well, what's my purpose? What's next? Let's go.'"

Holm would have to wait eight months before a proposed November rematch with Rousey. UFC president Dana White originally scheduled a Rousey-Holm rematch for July, but Rousey faced a six-month medical suspension after last November's knockout by Holm and would not have had enough time to train.

So the rematch was pushed back and White allowed Holm to set up the fight with Tate.

If Holly defends her title, all eyes will be on whether White will allow his champion to fight again before facing Rousey.
