The New York Knicks are expected to make a strong push to sign Rajon Rondo when the former All-Star becomes a free agent after the 2015-16 NBA season.
Sources told Mark Berman of New York Post that the Knicks, particularly interim head coach Kurt Rambis, are intrigued by what Rondo can bring in the triangle offense that they are running.

"According to an NBA source, coach Kurt Rambis is high on Rondo and what he can do in the triangle, and Knicks general manager Steve Mills huddled with agent Billy Duffy at Oracle Arena for a half-hour," Berman wrote.
Rondo, who is averaging 11.7 points and 11.8 assists on top of 6.1 rebounds per game this season, will become a free agent again this summer after signing a one-year deal worth $9.5 million last year.
The 30-year-old point guard previously said that he is not too high on running the triangle offense. However, Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony disagreed during an interview earlier this month, saying that Rondo will a perfect fit to the triangle. Anthony said that Rondo's ability to get in the paint and push the pace will make him productive in the triangle.

"Some of the keys of our offense is penetration, getting in the paint, pushing the pace, transition, creating in the paint for bigs, for yourself, everybody else," Anthony said via ESPN. "I think a point guard would love that, especially a point guard who can penetrate, create for yourself, create for others. I think it's a perfect opportunity for him."
However, it is also worth noting that Anthony himself is unsure if he will still be in the Big Apple next season. The 31-year-old forward told the New York Daily News that he does not know if he will be back, saying that it will all depend on the moves that they will make this summer.
"I don't know," Anthony, who is averaging 21.8 points and 8.0 rebounds this season, said when asked about his future in New York. "Honestly, it's hard to answer those type of questions when you really don't know what's going to happen towards the end of the summer. We still have a month left in this season."
The Knicks are on pace to miss the playoffs for the third consecutive season. They are currently in 13th place in the Eastern Conference standings with their 28-43 record.
