Eugenie Bouchard News: Canadian Reunites, For Now, With Coach That Led Her To No. 5 In 2014 [VIDEO]

She's had better results recently with new coach Thomas Hogstedt than she had all last year.

Hogstedt is not with Eugenie Bouchard as she prepares for the Volvo Car Open this week, but she may have more than a capable fill-in. And a possible controversy.

Taking on coaching responsibilities for Bouchard this week is none other than Nick Saviano, Bouchard's sometimes coach since she was 12, according to Yahoo Sports Canada's Eh Game.

Saviano coach Bouchard in 2014, when the then-19-year-old Canadian advanced to the semifinals in three Grand Slam events, including the finals at Wimbledon. Despite Bouchard's rise to No. 5 in the world that season, the two parted ways.

The decision to leave was Saviano's, according to Eh Game.

"Whether this is a permanent move, and that Hogstedt is gone after just a few months, is unknown. But it's certainly a blockbuster piece of news.

"The relationship between Bouchard and Saviano did not end on especially good terms at the end of the 2014 season, when Saviano reportedly ended the collaboration."

Saviano runs a tennis academy in Florida and is not reliant upon coaching to make a living, Eh Game added.

Bouchard is 15-7 so far this season, a far cry from her 12-18 mark in 2015, in which she lost 10 of 11 matches and 18 of 23 between four wins at the Australian Open and three wins at the U.S. Open.

Her first opponent in Charleston this week will be Romania's Alexandra Dulgheru, who played part in Bouchard's struggles in 2015. During a press conference in advance of a Fed Cup match between Canada and Romania in which the two were scheduled to play each other, Bouchard refused to shake Dulgheru's hand.

The Romanian defeated Bouchard 6-4, 6-4, then made fun of her in celebration with her teammates after the match.

If Saviano and Bouchard find that old magic this week, it will be interesting to see what's next for the 21-year-old, Saviano and Hogstedt.
