Tyson Chandler Knee Injury: Knicks Not Releasing Comeback Timetable [VIDEO]

New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler injured his right knee in a collision with Charlotte's Kemba Walker during the first quarter of the team's 102-97 loss Tuesday night and never returned.

According to ESPN, team officials believe Chandler suffered a sprain on the play, but are still unsure about the severity of the injury. He is expected to undergo more tests on Wednesday.

Chandler was in obvious pain following the episode and afterwards spent several minutes on the bench icing his knee before limping to the locker room. At one point, reserve center Cole Aldrich had to aide him in making his way.

"We don't know the severity yet," exasperated Knicks coach Mike Woodson told ESPN after watching his team fall to 1-3. "We'll know more Wednesday. He's a big piece of what we do."

The 2011-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Chandler is charged with anchoring the Knicks defense. "I just pray and hope that he's fine, he's alright," said Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony.

If Chandler's injury is found to be serious, Woodson may be forced to rely more heavily on a rotation of Aldrich and veteran big men Amare Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin.
