Britain's No. 2 Dan Evans To Face 17 Year Old Shapovalov In Davis Cup

Dan Evans will be playing against a new sensation in Tennis who is just 17 years old Denis Shapovalov in the opening match of Great Britain against Canada. In their first match at Davis Cup, Great Britain will have to overcome from Denis Shapovalov who is described as "a left-handed version of Federer." The Wimbledon junior champion has been in the news for a while now and everyone will be eagerly waiting to watch his game on this Friday in the first ever live rubber.

Playing without Andy Murray, Great Britain will not be taking this young guy lightly. "He's got a big game," Dan Evans said about Shapovalov and added "He likes to be aggressive and dictate play. So I'll have to try to get on top of him tomorrow rather than him doing it to me" as reported by telegraph.

Dan Evans has never been looked as favorites right from the beginning in the previous 12 Davis Cup that he has been part of. But this time with the absence of Andy Murray Evans is the no. 1 player for Great Britain. Dan Evans will take on the world no. 234 on Friday at 8:00 pm GMT.

Evans who is 26 is still considered as a lower-ranked wildcard player who tries to create an upset. He has faced Shapovalov at the second-tier challenger tournament last year where Evans won by three sets. The young guy from Canada did win against Nick Kyrgios during the Roger's Cup in Toronto.

Evans spoke more about Shapovalov saying that he had a good game with him last year although he won three sets but he was impressed by Shapovalov's game. "In Davis Cup, there's always some upsets so I have to respect Denis [on Friday] and go out and give it my all" as reported by ESPN.

It would be an interesting game as Shapovalov will be playing a five-sets game for the first time. Also, he has his Davis Cup experience on a dead rubber win which he won against Chile.
