The Chicago Bulls are making a run and wants to make sure that they will be in the playoff this season. Recent reports are saying that they are one of the teams who will be active in the trade market. Now, they are considering of acquiring Philadelphia 76ers' center Jahlil Okafor before the trade deadline expires.
Currently, the Bulls are at the 7th spot of the Eastern Conference standings holding a 25-26 win-loss record. From the looks of it, they are still not safe as they are only 1 ½ games ahead of the Detroit Piston and Charlotte Hornets and 3 games ahead of the New York Knicks. Some are now suggesting that they should reinforce their roster for their push to the postseason.
Meanwhile, Okafor has been a familiar name in the rumor mills the past few months. The 76ers have an overcrowded frontcourt in their lineup with Okafor, Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid. But is likely that Okafor will be the one to be let go as he brings more value and the tandem of Noel and Embiid seems to be working for the 76ers.
With that in mind, latest news is saying that the Bulls have shown an interest of acquiring him. According to FOXSports, the Chicago Bulls allegedly ask the availability of Jahlil Okafor to the Philadelphia 76ers recently. The Bulls are looking for some help for their final push in the playoffs and getting Okafor could be a good option for them.
On the 76ers part, this could be the perfect opportunity for them to unload Okafor and get a valuable asset in return. Aside from that, Okafor is slowing down and his combination with Embiid doesn't make wonders for them. It would also be best if they'll let go of him and find a solution on the position they truly need.
CBSSports also reported that Bulls needs some youth movement as their younger players seems to failing to expectation as pointed out by veteran players Dwyane and Jimmy Butler. Having the 21-year old center from Duke might somehow provide some improvement on the Bulls frontcourt.
The report also says that the Bulls are willing to give up Denzel Valentine and Jerian Grant to the Philadelphia 76ers for Okafor. Many believed that Okafor will continue to grow in the Bulls as he will be inspired to play for his hometown Chicago.
