Maccabi Tel Aviv Nips Maccabi Ashod, Earns First Finals Ticket

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv clinched the first seat on the Finals of the Winner Cup after their 95-89 victory Maccabi Ashdod. The team is now waiting who they are going to face off for the championship round.

According to the official Winner League website, Victor Rudd took care of the offense with 22 points, including 4 conversions from long distance.  Hashdod kept the game close towards the end of the game. They even came close to within 3 points at 85-82 but the former University of South Florida Bull made another long bomb to give the yellows enough cushion heading to the final two minutes.

Jackie Carmichael led Ashdod with his a huge double-double, norming 20 points in 8-of-11 FGs and 12 rebounds. Jake Cohen added 15 points, including two free throws that cut the lead to just two, 88-90, which proved to be the final push for Ashdod.

Preston Knowles engaged in a scoring battle with Rudd, starting the third quarter with two early treys and kept his team within shouting distance. The 27-year-old guard finished the game with 17 markers.

Led by Rudd, DJ Seeley led the other starters with his 17 points and 6 rebounds for Tel Aviv in a balanced scoring performance. Sylven Landesberg and Itay Segev chipped in 8 points apiece.

Andrew Goudelock struggled the entire game, only scoring 2 markers and missed all of his 6 attempts. He, however, took care of the playmaking duties, finding open teammates with his 4 dimes. Chase Simon poured 13 points and added 7 boards while the former Los Angeles Clipper Daniel Ewing scored 10 but took 13 attempts to come up with his output.

Landesberg put the finishing touches following two misses by Preston Knowles and Iftah Ziv, setting the final score. Maccabi Tel Aviv are now just waiting for the winner of the Hapoel Jerusalem - Hapoel Holon match-up.
